Use Cada Uno to keep a shared record of what the group spends and see how to settle the remaining balances.
Quick start
- Create a group. Give it a name, choose its currency, and add the people who will share expenses.
- Add each movement. Choose an expense or income, enter the amount and who paid or received it, then select who shares it. Split it equally, by shares, or by exact amounts.
- Review the balances. Each person's balance reflects what they paid, their share of expenses and income, and any payments already recorded.
- Record a payment after it happens. From Settlements, choose a suggested amount or enter another amount. A transfer records a real-world payment; it does not send money.
- Invite the group. Share a join link from the members screen so people can choose their name and continue in the app.
Frequently asked questions
Balances and payments
How are balances calculated?
For each expense, Cada Uno counts what the payer covered and how the amount is split among the selected people. The difference between what someone paid and their share becomes their net balance. Income has the opposite effect, and recorded transfers adjust the balance after a payment.
For example, if Alex pays $900 for a meal shared equally by Alex, Sam, and Jo, each person's share is $300. Alex is owed $600, while Sam and Jo each owe $300.
What should I check if a balance looks wrong?
Check who paid each expense, who was included in the split, and the amounts and currencies recorded. For a movement in another currency, its details show the original and converted amounts. Also check any income or transfer already recorded. Simplifying transfers changes the suggested route, not the group's total balance. Edit a movement if one of its details is wrong.
Why can the suggested payer differ from who paid an expense?
When “Simplify transfers” is on, Cada Uno combines each person's net balance to show a simpler set of payment suggestions. That can change who pays whom in the suggestion, while keeping the same group totals. It does not edit any expense or record a payment. Turn it off in group settings to see suggestions based on direct expense relationships.
Do suggested payments move money?
No. Cada Uno does not move money. A suggestion only shows who should pay whom and how much. Record a transfer after the group has paid outside the app. If you choose “Settle total,” use it only after that payment has happened.
Can I record a partial payment?
Yes. From Settlements, choose “Other amount” or add a transfer with the amount that was actually paid. The remaining balance stays open and is recalculated.
Expenses and edits
Can I split an expense unevenly?
Yes. When adding an expense, choose an equal split, assign shares (for example, one person gets two shares), or enter each person's exact amount. The amounts entered must add up to the total.
How do I fix a wrong or duplicate movement?
Open the expense or transfer and edit it, or delete it if it should not be there. Cada Uno recalculates the balances from the remaining movements. Deleted movements cannot be restored from an activity history, so check the details before deleting.
If you are unsure whether a movement saved, check the group activity before trying again.
Currencies
Can I change a group’s currency after creating it?
No. The group currency is fixed when you create it and is used for balances and payment suggestions. Check it before saving the group. If you chose the wrong one, create a new group with the correct currency.
Can a group have expenses in different currencies?
Yes. The group has one currency for its balances and payment suggestions, while an expense or transfer can use another currency. Cada Uno saves the original amount and the exchange rate used to convert it to the group currency. Review the suggested rate when entering a movement; you can edit it if needed.
Plans and limits
Do I need to pay to record movements?
You do not need to pay to record movements. Premium purchases are not available yet, and the final price has not been published in the app.
How many groups and members can I have?
Guest accounts and registered accounts with an unverified email can own up to 3 active groups. After verifying your email, you can create more groups. Each group can have up to 50 members, including its creator.
Invites and access
Can I add someone who does not have an account?
You can add a person to the group by name without asking for their email or phone number. They do not need to create a registered account: to participate from their own device, they can start as a guest in the Cada Uno app. They need to install the app and open the invite link. The invite page in a browser is only a link to the app.
Can I manage my group from a browser?
Not yet. The website can show public invitation and join pages, but adding or editing movements and reviewing balances happens in the mobile app.
Does Cada Uno work offline?
No. An internet connection is needed to load and save group changes. Offline use is not available yet.
